Oh I am so glad that the news has been received so well. I hated the sickness side of things and, like you, it went on all throughout pregnacy. The awful thing is that like it or lump it you must get liquid and some food in to you. What is the rule on that nowadays? Can you have something to help?

Thinking of you and so glad that you can now look forward to and plan for the new arrival. Do you still have pram and so on?

What wonderful news - I am so pleased for you and your family. I hope you are not too sick throughout your pregnancy. It sounds as if you have a wonderful supportive network.

Take care

I am very blessed to have such a supportive family..

Not too sure on the sickness Eleanor- it has always been this way for me, and I am considered borderline so they wouldn't admit me for it, but some days I cannot keep anything down at all, especially fluids? Really strange as you'd think water would remain down but that is the worst!!

We don't have anything baby anymore, I gave all my things to a pro-life charity which provides things for young mams - even my white rocking cradle!! Oh well,...good excuse to go shopping but not until the baby is born.

Love,

Amanda

Hi Amanda, just a quick word on the sicknes side hun. With my first one, (luckily for me only the first!) I had very bad sickness, I couildnt keep anything down for 2 weeks, went to see gp, well he came to me, as I couldnt even walk by then as so weak. He said to rest, and it would stop of its own accord, I tried to explain how bad it was but he wasnt interested. After another 2 days my husband insisted we go to A and E where they said i was extremely dehydrated and put me on a drip and kept me in for 4 days. They gave me some meds to help with the sickness, not sure what it was as so long ago!! All I am really saying is, if its that bad please get checked out, its not worth suffering if something can be done. Hope otherwise all is ok x

Thank you Barbara, that must have been so scary for you with it being no1, and very daunting being admitted. And you didn't have it with your others?

With Ben they did discuss it but I begged to not go!! I will mention it to the Dr tomorrow...it is frustrating!

The relief of actually being sick (sorry, TMI! LOL) is awesome though! LOLOL

Love,

Amanda

What about these bands that you can wear? They sell them in the chemist.

Great idea Eleanor, a friend of mine used the travel sickness wrist bands during her pregnancy and they worked well.

I usually wear marine bands all the way through, they put pressure on the points of your wrists. I will buy some new ones tomorrow. Thank you Eleanor!

My good friend (who I have just told and she was shouting down the phone in happiness- we are Godparents to her 6th baby boy Joseph)...told me that her sister took Vit B12 and B6 for sickness and it helped alot, I have done this too but cannot remember if I took them religiously, probably not because of the nausea!

But I will give anything a go!

Love,

Amanda

Thank you Julia, that is so kind of you to ask.

Not too good actually, they rang tonight (they are in Spain and we haven't spoken since I told them) and neither of them mentioned it AT ALL! They asked me questions about everything else but not about the Dr's yesterday or how I was feeling. Ben also chatted to them and they didn't mention it to him. Afterwards when Mark was home I told him and he is cross! (More because it has upset me really.)

Oh well, I cannot really fathom this at all but am far too sick to give it too much attention!

Love,

Amanda

Hello dear Amanda,

I can see how upsetting the phone call must have been for you. Perhaps they were afraid to ask in case you had negative news for them? Perhaps they have decided not to ask because they are so far away at present and could not do anything to help or consol you if there were problems? Just playing devil's advocate here but there may well be a fear element in this and they feel that not knowing may be best at the present time!

Know what I am like when my daughters are pregnant! Frightened to ask if there are existing problems and scared not to ask in case they are upset! Hard to be a parent at any age.

They will be there for you at the end. This special blessing will be just as adored as all the others. Best to give the benefit of the doubt1

Just wish that you did not feel so sick! Remember that nasty feeling well.

lots of love,

Eleanor x

Hi Amanda,

I know just how you must be feeling but please don't let it get to you. I'm sure Eleanor is right in all she says and just remember how pleased they were when you told them. They've had time to think about the news in the interim and are probably concerned for you and the baby; don't forget you are still their 'little girl'! Questions will be popping up in their minds now and they probably won't like to ask either for fear of upsetting you or being unable to help. Telephones aren't always the best medium for conversation but I'm sure once you are able to speak face to face and they can see how thrilled you all are things will be different.

I too remember the horrible sickness well, but remember, as each day passes you are one day nearer holding that little bundle of joy in your arms and all this will be a distant memory. If you can see it as something that you have to go through (unfortunately for you) but comes to an end with a remarkable gift perhaps psychologically it may be easier to handle.

Thinking of you Amanda,

Hi Amanda

Hope you are feeling little better today, I ve sat in the garden for the first time this year, did a few arm and leg exercises too !! and it helped. ( I ve got naughtly hands etc just now !! )

Following on from Eleanor and Lyn thoughts I expect your mum and dad are concerned for you and would rather be near you right now. Like you say, just look after yourself and don t worry.

In my thoughts, Julia xx

Thank you for your wise words. After i wrote it I had huge pangs of guilt as I am sure you're completely right.

Also, they are worried about the volcanic ash as they are stuck in Spain and it is a horrible feeling to think you are trapped somewhere. They have decided to get Eurostar home on Tuesday.

I am sort of enjoying the sickness as I know deep down it is such a good and healthy sign yet I must admit at times it is darining and I feel quite helpless in the house.

Much love and big thanks!

Amanda

I know EXACTLY what you mean, though. Lucy is always very very sick, and she knew something was wrong last time because she wasn't!

Dear Amanda,

I have been away from the forum for a while and come back to this wondeful, wonderful news! Many congratulations to you and your gorgeous family. What a lucky baby to be arriving as part of your clan!
I am adoring every moment of my gorgeous new grandaughter and appreciate all over again how a baby refocuses everything and brings so much happiness.

As one of the 'grandparents' I agree with some of the others - I'll often not bring up some burning issues on the phone for fear of being intrusive or having to cope with a possible difficult conversation when conditions are not ideal. Doesn't happen often, and I expect I get it wrong sometimes. I hope your parents soon get back from Spain without too much of a struggle and are able to give you masses of support.

I was also admitted a couple of times on 2 of my pregnancies for a drip. They made absolutely no difference to the sickness, which carried on! but did sort out the dehydration at the time and give me some more energy. It was the doctors decision to admit me, and I must admit I was glad of the rest!!

lots of love to you and your tiddler!

xxxxxxx
